Showcasing PLAST4H2 research at International Hydrogen Energy Conferences

New research in the framework of the PLAST4H2 project was presented at two international hydrogen energy conferences in 2026.

In March, University of Cantabria (UC) researchers presented their work in an oral presentation titled “Matrimid/LaNi5 Hollow Fiber Membranes for Hydrogen Recovery from Industrial Waste Streams” at the European Hydrogen Energy Conference (EHEC), held in Seville, Spain, from 11 to 13 March.

The research was subsequently presented at an international event in Singapore in June, with the oral presentation “Hydrogen recovery from industrial waste streams using novel Matrimid®/LaNi5 hollow fiber membranes.” The presentations provided an opportunity to share the latest results with the international hydrogen research community and exchange knowledge on innovative approaches to hydrogen separation and recovery.

The work focuses on the development of Matrimid®/LaNi₅ mixed-matrix hollow fiber membranes, designed to improve the recovery and purification of hydrogen from industrial waste streams. By combining a polymeric membrane material with LaNi₅, a hydrogen-storage material, the researchers are exploring new solutions for efficient and scalable hydrogen separation.

The participation of UC researchers in these international conferences contributes to the visibility and dissemination of research relevant to PLAST4H2, while also strengthening connections with the wider hydrogen research and innovation community. These exchanges are important for sharing knowledge, identifying new opportunities for collaboration and advancing technologies that can support the valorisation of waste streams into valuable resources.
