World Oceans Day: raising awareness on marine litter

As summer draws to a close, we are highlighting some of the outreach activities carried out by our partners in recent months. On 8 June, World Oceans Day, Innoceana took part in an outreach fair dedicated to raising awareness of the marine environment.

At Innoceana’s stand, visitors could take part in interactive and engaging activities designed to learn more about marine litter and its impacts on marine ecosystems. The team highlighted not only the need to reduce plastic pollution in our oceans, but also the importance of preventing plastic litter at its source.

Events like this provide valuable opportunities to engage directly with the public, encourage greater awareness of environmental challenges, and share practical messages about how we can help protect marine ecosystems.Public outreach and awareness-raising are an important part of the PLAST4H2 project, helping us connect the project’s work on plastic waste with communities beyond the project partnership and promote a more informed approach to plastic pollution and circularity.
