A New Team Member Joins LUBEM for the PLAST4H2 Project

We are pleased to welcome Juliette ILLIEN to the PLAST4H2 project team as a Study Engineer in the LUBEM laboratory.

Her work will focus on building a collection of fungal isolates from plastic waste collected on San Juan beach (Tenerife) in the frame of WP1. These isolates will then be screened using high throughput innovative technologies such as Laser Nephelometry and the oCelloScope, in order to assess their ability to grow on different polymers as their sole carbon source.

The most promising isolates will be cultivated under optimized conditions, and enzyme extracts will be sent to a project partner to evaluate their effectiveness in depolymerizing plastics, either alone or in combination with the physicochemical treatments developed by other partners. This new step highlights the collaborative dynamic of the PLAST4H2 project in the search for innovative solutions for plastic management and valorisation.
